~St. Elmo's Fire~

Last night I was up until one in the morning watching an eighties film relic~ St. Elmo’s Fire.
Though everything didn’t exactly turn out the way you wish it would~ I was extremely inspired by Rob Lowe’s Frat Boy Style (sans the earring) and Demi Moore’s amazing Pepto Bismal pink walls.
I really am not sure that style of clothing has evolved that much since the 80’s- it seems everyone is driving back to that fashion- I mean the acid colors are always a favorite of mine, don’t get me wrong, I will wear banana yellow skinny jeans every day if it were possible- just not the sloppy, baggy sweaters and skirts.
And don’t even get me started on the crimped hair! I have battled the poof-y, frizzy monster that lives atop my head since I was a child- so I believe that that hair trend should never be forced onto such a large unsuspecting public ever again in history.
But I’m sure somewhere in France, Karl Lagerfeld has found a crimp-y muse and is waiting with baited breath to unleash it upon the world: again.
Back to the movie, there is a scene, where Rob Lowe is struggling to find his nitch, and after failing miserably at everything else- he goes back to college. As he is standing at the foot of his old frat house, I was amazed at the creativity of his ensemble. I think that for that scene, the costume designer/clothing stylist had had a spark of absolute genius! Under a roughed up looking leather blazer, Rob was wearing a thinned down, maroon letterman’s jacket. What can I say, except that I had to hit the pause button and gawk appreciatively.
I found a few snaps of Rob Lowe~ sadly though, not any with as large of a shot of his outfit (without watching the movie, that is). I hope it inspires you to find your own frat boy style, too! ;)

Boss-y Style!

Lately, I have been obsessed with watching 'Who's the Boss?' on Hallmark channel. At first I watched because I always find it fascinating to see how people dressed before I was born, but then I kept watching because of the charming lives its characters portray and the fantastic whacky hair and clothing! i still think designers from the late 70's through the 90's should have severely re-evaluated their ideas- I mean all that crazy color and makeup?! I'm all for over the top but really- there are tasteful lines being crossed people!
I hope you find these snaps of the heroine of Who's the Boss, Angela Bower, as fascinating as I did!

Killer Beach Bag

I think it's important for a girl to have a knock out tote to hit the beach with, and I have seven! A metallic-inspired, basket-weave ditty that can hold its own against my blinged out bathing suit- not to mention my earthy tote for my boho inspired suits.

My ultimate fave beach bag though, is a plastic, striped multicolor Mizrahi with leather trim- it's perfect for sandy places- not to mention the clear spaces make it easy to find your sunblock!
If you are looking to purchase a new tote, keep this in mind- find something versatile that will work with several of your bikinis. I am all for spending like a feign and buying one in every color BUT, that is not always possible or practical. Instead find a common color in all your bathing suits and coordinate your bag accordingly.

Have a beachy day!

Fashionista's Fashion Fascinated Beauty Awards!!

One thing you've learned about me by now is that I spend a mint on makeup, as well as clothing *ahem*, but that's nothing to be too proud about. Except during times like this...
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you, blogger's first ever, FFB Awards!

First up, is the arena of LIP GLOSS. The winner is-
Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush: Slice of Heaven
It's not so bright it scares people- it's not a blah classic colour, and just as it's name suggests, takes heavenly.
LIPPETY-STICK:
i have to hand it to MAC, their Vegas Volt is insanely bright and very, very flattering. I like to smear it on thick, then blot before going out. MUAH!
MAKEUP:
This was a difficult one for me. You see, I wear two different makeups for spring/summer and fall/winter. First up is Maybelline's Mineral Power Foundation Makeup in Medium 2- it is the perfect sun kissed and silky finish you can find for such a reasonable price- not to mention going through that much makeup in the summer can be expensive. For fall/winter I adore Armani luminous silk foundation in 5, it gives your skin a smooth appearance, is long lasting, not to mention it feels light and airy on!
BLUSH: Okay, okay, so after all the hype, I finally purchased some- NARS powder blush in ORGASM. I love how it matches my coloring so well, and has a shimmer effect when you turn your head. If you prefer something without shimmer, I suggest you check out MAC's Pinch o' Peach.
EYESHADOW: Now this is where it gets tricky, sooo many colors- what's a girl to choose? My favorite all time eyeshadow color is MAC's Naked Lunch- it's a peachy skin tone with shimmer- if you're more radical, then I suggest the Rockstar palette by LORAC- you can't go wrong with that compact, there's a party inside!
MOISTURIZER: The best has to be by Garnier Fructis, it leaves your skin feeling light- not weighted down. At night, before I go to bed, I wash my face, put on some aloe vera gel, then this Garnier Fructis moisturizer, and then slather on something AnnaLynn McCord swears by: Aquaphor by Eucerin.
MASCARA: Bourjois Clubbing Mascara in Ultra Black. The wand is huge- and after several coats, people will stand in awe of your lashes. Once, a MAC artist asked me if those were my "real lashes?!" Which was my most favorite compliment ever- who doesn't want fake-looking real lashes?

I have plenty more products I'd like to share, but not as much time! I promise to have a better awards post next year- especially around Christmas- when all the really amazing glitter eyeliner's come out to play!

~Please e-mail me all of your favorite makeup products and tips- I'd love to hear YOUR feedback!~

is it just me, or do all the eccentrics become millionaires?

This is just a small observation, but I keep wondering if it's true!? An incredibly delightful destitute friend of mine recently married a millionaire. And since there isn't anyone who could have been more eccentric (or deserving), I just thought...
If this is true, then that means... I'm about to land in a huge pile of money! Haha, I knew my sister was wrong about me!
And speaking of $$$$ I just landed my first ever stylist job for a guess what- MILLIONAIRE!
I can't tell you very much, but let's just say that not all M's are eccentric- just the special ones!

I'll let you know how it goes, but so far so good- I'm definitely on my way bAbY!

Below is a list of all my favorite M's~ in no particular order and why I love 'em!

10. Justin Bieber (for his determination)

9. Miley Cyrus (for her talent)

8. The JoBros (for fearlessly living their dreams and never compromising their faith-all while living in Hollywood)

7. Amanda Bynes (for her sense of humor)

6. Zac Efron (for his soulful eyes)

5. Sandra Bullock (for her prestige and accomplishments)

4.
Trump-y (for his antics and that awful comb-over)

3. Zsa Zsa Gabore (for her shrewd business mind and diamonds!)

2. Nikki Hilton (for being your average girl-next-door-heiress-fashion-designer)

1. Paris the Heiress (for never wearing black, and managing to become a life-size Barbie doll!)

BaG LaDy

Last month, while in the big T-X, I found myself in a humid mall, stifled for originality and Alexander McQueen. Suddenly, a beacon of trend-setting light hit me from thirty yards away! A vision in rebel-yell fashion sense and complete usability. Who would have thought that THE lingerie maker Victoria's Secret (sorry Agent Provocateur) would hold the answer to all my carry-on-travelosity-deficit disorder pleas for help?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alas, my anorexic wallet forced me to wait, until I made it to my beloved hometown of Grand Junction, before I was able to indulge myself in this packing splendor- ah, my clothes (and back) will thank me, when I roll onto the scene with my fab rollin' bag!
When I entered the PINK store, I found myself inhaling the fresh and fruity fragrances and as I drug my soon-to-be-bag from the high shelf, a lovely worker-bee told me not to dismay at the price, because the bag was not just a single- but a trio! I mean a large bag, tote and makeup bag?! I must be dreaming.
Here are a few snaps of my pretties- along with two scarves that wound themselves out of Target & Old Navy and right into my heart!
Isn't this so beautiful?? I have to thank my People Style Watch Mag, because otherwise I would have never been wise to this jeweled, Caribbean blue bracelet! American Eagle is known for it's rather casual style, but this wrist bauble is totally glam! And at $12.50 a pop, any fashionista can afford to look fly!
